Summer Safety Tips You Need To Know Now

At National Fitness, we know our members don’t hit pause just because it’s hot out. You’re showing up, sweating it out, and making the most of those longer days. To help you stay cool, safe, and strong all summer long, here are a few hot-weather safety tips (with a splash of fun). 

 

Hydrate 

Whether you’re crushing a strength workout or chasing your kids at the pool, don’t slack on hydration. Aim for 90 to 120 ounces of water daily, more if you're working out intensely. For that extra edge, grab some low-sugar electrolytes from the Welcome Desk. Your body will thank you. 

 

Sun Smarts 

Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and reapply if you’re swimming or sweating. Bonus points for wide-brimmed hats, finding shady spots between 10 AM and 4 PM, and wearing UV-blocking sunglasses. Protect your skin today and your future self will thank you. 

 

Beat the Heat  

If you plan to take your workout outside, try the cooler periods of the day like early morning and late evening. Listen to your body and stop if you feel dizzy or nauseous. To help prevent heat exhaustion, wear loose, light-colored, moisture-wicking clothing whether you're joining us in the club, or out in the heat. 

 

Water Safety 

Our pools are the ultimate summer perk, but safety comes first. Supervise the kiddos at all time, and remember, No running near wet areas. And know your limits in the water. Even strong swimmers need to play it safe.
